Snow Days on the East Coast

This was quite some snow storm that hit us this year, most of the snow we get doesn’t do much, it’s easy enough to usual get in the car and go somewhere. But this time we got hit. 28″ was the official count in the area closest to us.
Two days before the blizzard of 2010, we were placing bets, how much snow would fall… The bets were as follows, 18″ max, 26-32″ max and over 24″.
So once the storm had died down I finally ventured out to see what the damage was… With the depths of the snow varying in many places, from my knees to my waist, I trudged through the masses of the frozen tundra.
The first task started during the morning yesterday, dig a path to the animals. The funnest part about living on a farm. This took four hours of the day, first to the cows and then to chickens. They were all in a tissy, the chickens still haven’t shut-up.
(I’m sure that the cows are going to get cabin fever before the snow melts down enough for them to get out of the corral.)
Flick: Are you kidding? Stick my tongue to that stupid pole? That’s dumb!
Schwartz: That’s ’cause you know it’ll stick!
Flick: You’re full of it!
Schwartz: Oh yeah?
Flick: Yeah!
Schwartz: Well I double-DOG-dare ya!
Ralphie as Adult: [narrating] NOW it was serious. A double-dog-dare. What else was there but a “triple dare you”? And then, the coup de grace of all dares, the sinister triple-dog-dare.
Schwartz: I TRIPLE-dog-dare ya!
Ralphie as Adult: [narrating] Schwartz created a slight breach of etiquette by skipping the triple dare and going right for the throat!

Though the other animals are starting to get cabin fever, our little lady just is trotting her little self along. She sticks close to the paths, never venturing outside of them, though sometimes you catch her sticking her head up to try and see what is on the other side of the snow walls.

A Wintery Mix

As I’m sure you know there is a wintery storm hitting hard around the D.C. area, so I grabbed my camera to get some macro shots of the beautiful snow. While I was attempting to get some shots I had one of my lenses fall completely apart. I now am going to have to spend some time putting it back together. But on the upside, here are just a few of the shots I obtained today.
