Plan a Wedding on a Budget

How many times have you and I watched those shows that feature wedding planners and big blow-out weddings? For some that just isn’t realistic, some people have to do without or scaled down.
I love to think about weddings, planning, wishing, hoping, dreaming. I think it’s just in my blood stream, a girl thing.
Here are some pleasant ideas to help you pinch your pennies for that big day that you’ll never want to forget.
Getting a used dress instead of breaking the bank could go a long way, I know it’s not what we all dream of, but it could help you put some of that money somewhere else in your wedding. Questions (Photo found at Once Wed) to be sure to ask about the dress, ask for current photos of the hem (that could be the dirtiest area from the wedding), double check your sizings to what is listed for the dress (that is if you can’t try it on first), make sure that you can return it. And let me clarify, I don’t think that one should settle, if you don’t find what you like (no love), keeping looking, it’s out there somewhere with a lower price tag I promise.
Location, location, location! This is one of the toughest things to accomplish on a tight budget. Shop around, it’s going to be tough. Take your mom or your sister and call a bunch of places, get the costs written down. And sometimes you are going to just have to go with the classic “backyard” wedding. I would strongly suggest (Photo found at The Knot) having your ceremony at a different location, if your budget allows for it, this is just easier for those helping you (setup teams, food people, photographer). Get your friends and the wedding party to help out, this can help stretch your pennies a long way.

Maybe postcards with something cool on the front that you and your love designed or created, get them printed in a large quantity and put the whole thing together with a little sweet treat. Easy simple, but custom and unique.
You don’t have to break the bank for the perfect cake, I mean if it taste good and looks nice who cares, it just going to get cut up and shoved into mouths. Some ides that others have implemented are cupcakes or fondant mini deserts, home made pies, ice cream bar, and other wonderful yummy things. Find a friend or friends that are baking wizards, give them easy and perfect wedding gift requests that are right up their allies.
Don’t limit yourself to a traditional cake, who says that’s the rule of thumb. Just remember that if you want to shove cake into that special (Photo found at Once Wed) persons face, but you don’t want a big cake, get a little one made for you.

(Photo found at Once Wed) When it comes to your wedding ceremony and reception you would like to see a beautiful place surround you. The decorating can be for some a blessing, while for others it is a horror. If you are looking pinch those pennies be willing to go without. Ikea and The HomeGoods store could become your new best friend, but so could you mom’s and grandma’s attic, think eclectic. Does everything really have to match? You can create something beautiful and unique for your guests to enjoy. Let the decor reflect who you are as a couple. If your going to buy a bunch of stuff, think about what you can use later and what you can sell to others later.
There are more ideas out there, look around and use that brain you have — I’m sure you have lots of ideas too.
